Brit'mag - le numéro 32 est paru | Dear readers
Summer arrives at last – the time of 'rosé' wine and 'rosée' skin. With the arrival of the summer sun also comes the sound of laughter and smiles as friends and family arrive to enjoy the warm evenings, discover a new part of France and to experience a slice of French culture – we hope this issue will provide you all with some ideas to achieve all of these. In this issue: We meet Michael Dodds – the new Director of Brittany’s Tourist Board and we ask him a few questions concerning his ideas for boosting tourism in the Brittany region and how expatriate residents can help – and by the way, he’s British! |
There’s no doubt about it that the coastline of our part of France is a great place to explore on foot, so we hope you’ll enjoy and try out our Discovery feature on ideas for walks/bike rides. Ever thought of owning a mobile holiday home – maybe by the sea? Carole Surman looks at what costs are involved and offers some sound advice on what to look out for.In Wild Nature we take a look at one of the smallest mammals and the only one that can fly – the bat. Many old buildings have these as residents and they’re a regular sight in most rural gardens at dusk. But bat numbers are declining – so if you’ve got bats, how can you help?We have Bill and Adrienne Jardin’s (mis)adventures – with their move from Scotland to France, which ended with a lost Ikea imitation-Ming commode and a trip to the hospital! If your visiting friends or family want a real taste of France, we’ve a humorous look at just a few of the traditional delicacies which you could offer your guests before they return home. Look out for our competition to win free tickets to the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou for you and three others. Also in this issue, besides our other regular articles, we have for the first time a 16-page pull-out full of ideas for going out during the summer months, all offering plenty of fun for all ages and catering for all tastes and wallets. So make a note of a few dates in your diaries and go out and enjoy yourselves and get a real taste of NW France. Finally, August is a month when many businesses close and, like them, we too will close for our summer break, so we’ll be back in September. Enjoy this issue and the summer sunshine (fingers crossed!) 'Bonnes vacances'! Mark |
